  This report (UK Ministry of Justice Research Series - September 2007) showed that the harmful effects are more extreme with more extreme material.  Exposure to less extreme material shows less extreme effects.  "All five of the meta-analyses also found harm effects for some material that does not meet the criteria of ‘extreme’ pornography "  In other words it is not unreasonable for academics to do further research into the harmful effects one may expect to find from all pornography.
