15 - Jesus Rises from the Dead

You've heard the saying: "you can't keep a good man down"?  Well the Devil tried to prove that wrong, fortunately without success.

Jesus said, "Why do you call me good?  No one is good but God alone." (Luke 18:19).  Jesus was the 'good and innocent man' who humbly gave his Divine but earthly life - so that we could live forever, in the company of God.  Live in a state of perpetual joy that never tires - hard to fathom but there you have it!

The Devil brought sin into the world, and sin had ushered in death.  But God is the author of life, and love would have it no other way: as Jesus had promised - on the third day, He rose from the dead!  Jesus broke the power of sin and death for ever.

By the grace of God, and the co-operation of His church, Jesus now offers us His life-giving self again.  The humble and innocent victim, the mighty victor over sin and death, who gave His suffering body as a bloody sacrifice, now offers that same but risen body to us now: humbly offers it, 'take it or leave it', you're free to choose, He offers it now: the Bread of Life, no less.

Choose Life!  And if ever the choice seems hard, take heart - remember the Angel's words to Mary:  'The Lord is with thee'?  And so He is with her even now!  So pray to Mary and she will pray that God send His Holy and loving Spirit to guide you home - or maybe an Angel?

So when you stand before the Blessed Sacrament, remember it's not bread and wine, but our good and humble Lord you stand in reach of.  And more, for where the risen Jesus is, there's the Holy Spirit, and the Father, and all of Heaven - Mary and all the Angels - just a single word away - just go and say "hello"!
